The weekend’s not over yet… 2 more games to come!

A feast of goals today, as well as three goalless draws - no one can truly say that the Premiership is predictable! The table is starting to take shape with the “Big 4″ assuming their regular positions. If Sunday’s two games provide half the entertainment of the games at the Bridge, Anfield, The Emirates, and Old Trafford, then we’re in for a treat…

Hull City vs West Ham, 15:00

Even though we are only a couple of months into the new season, you just cannot express how much Hull have surprised everybody so far. Two back-to-back victories in London have been just confirmation they look like they are here to stay. With all the money in the league nowadays, Hull’s success story is a shining light at the moment.

Gianfranco Zola has had a satisfactory start to his managerial career in the Premier League so far, although he will have expected to win last time out against Bolton. The Hammers look very good going forward, and the re-emergence of Carlton Cole has been a bonus for them. Their style of play will start to become more reminiscent of Zola’s personality, and this can only be good for the Premier League.

Pundit’s corner:

It says a lot for Hull’s good start that most people will be making them favourites for this game. This is a stern test of their ability to be consistent because West Ham will not just lie down. A close-fought draw looks on the cards here.

Stoke City vs Tottenham Hotspur, 16:00

Despite taking points off both Aston Villa and Liverpool, Stoke find themselves in second last place on the table and look the most likely of the new boys to return to the Championship after just one season. An over-reliance on Rory Delap’s long throws as an offensive weapon is just one of their problems - They need to start shoring up their defence somehow or they could be on the wrong end of a few hidings later on.

Spurs, Spurs, Spurs. Can we really consider them relegation candidates already? Well, they ARE bottom of the table after 7 games, so that is a reality now. You just get the feeling that they have too many quality players to continue this bad run, and Juande Ramos is definitely not the worst manager in the league. Sometimes it just takes a bit of luck to turn your season around, and that luck has definitely deserted Spurs so far this season.

Pundit’s corner:

Spurs are due for a win, although visiting the promoted clubs early in the season is never easy. You are almost tempted to call this a relegation 6-pointer, but it’s a bit too early in the season to say that. An early goal or two will help settle Spurs’ nerves, but when you haven’t won in so long then it is difficult to close games out. Still, you feel that Spurs should turn things around here.
