Busy Saturday!
Well, we are back in the swing of things and there’s a good series of games lined up for Saturday afternoon. So take a load off while we get straight into our quick previews…
Everton vs Man Utd
While everyone know that Everton are struggling this season and they haven’t yet won at home, Goodison Park is still not an easy place to visit. That is why Man Utd will not be taking this game lightly. Having Arteta and Yakubu in your side means that you should be able to trouble most teams, so United will want to keep an eye out, especially at set-pieces.
Pundit’s corner:
This game could turn out to be a lot tighter than most people expect, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended in a stalemate. However, United have really started to show some form recently, so I’ll go with a close win for the Red Devils here.
Sunderland vs Newcastle
A local derby, but not the biggest in the land, so don’t expect tensions to run too high in this one. Newcastle have really shown some fight under Kinnear, and will look to start winning games now, after drawing their last couple.
Pundit’s corner:
Roy Keane’s side have had a decent season so far, but have been very unlucky in a few games with the woodwork and some refereeing decisions going against them. This game should be tight, as most local derbies are, but I’m going with the Toon for this one… they are long overdue a good win.
West Brom vs Hull
The battle of the new boys. Hull have had an amazing season so far, and should keep pressing until they achieve their primary objective, which is Premiership survival. Anything after that is a bonus, and they will then look at the season as a job very well done. West Brom have also played some attractive football at times, although they haven’t always had the rub of the green.
Pundit’s corner:
Hull have proven that they are definitely good enough to win on their travels and will hold no fears in this one. You just feel that the day is coming for them to have a few things go against them because they have had things run for them most times so far this season. It will be interesting to see how Hull bounce back from a defeat like this, so I’m going to go for a home win for West Brom here.
Blackburn vs Middlesbrough
Both these sides will look at their seasons so far and feel that they are not where they should really be. Boro have been one of the unluckiest sides in the Premiership this season and Gareth Southgate will be wondering when their luck is going to take a turn for the better..
Pundit’s corner:
When you see the fixture, it’s hard to look past anything than a draw. These teams just look like they will cancel each other out in every department, especially on paper. One way or another, they need to start getting consistent results, or else they will end up battling with the bottom three at the end of the season.
