Top 10 list - Fantasy League Favourites for this Matchweek
So I was updating my Fantasy League team for this week, and it got me thinking… There is more than 1 player I really want to bring into my team for this round, even though I’m only allowed 1 transfer per gameweek. Here is my list of must-haves for this week, some pricey, some not…
1. Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd)
Man United are at home against West Brom this weekend - Can anyone say free points??!! Ronaldo is almost guaranteed to pick u up some points and/or assists during this game.
2. Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd)
As a guaranteed starter in defence for Man United, a clean sheet is almost assured for Rio against the new boys. Right? Right???
3. Ashley Young (Aston Villa)
Free-scoring Villa up against the leaky Pompey defence this week. Young takes all the offensive free-kicks, and is likely to get you a goal or 2 as well.
4. Jermaine Defoe (Portsmouth)
Same game, similar sort of story to Young. Villa’s defence is not exactly the sturdiest this season, and Defoe’s been in red-hot form so far.
5. Daniel Agger (Liverpool)
Unless Rafa decides to go with big Sami Hyppia against Wigan, Agger should get a start, and most likely a clean sheet against Wigan. This is mainly due to the unfortunate injury that regular centre-back, Martin Skrtel suffered. Agger might weigh in with a long-range goal as well, as he has a decent shot on him.
6. Kevin Davies (Bolton)
Davies’ has been putting them away this season, and things look good for him at home against Blackburn. With the Reebok such an intimidating place to visit, look for Davies to have plenty of attempts on goal.
7. Geovanni (Hull City)
Spectactular goals recently from the Brazilian are going to ensure that he becomes a marked man anywhere around the penalty area. The law of averages says that he won’t be able to do it 3 games running, but ignore him at your peril…
8. Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea)
If you’re looking at taking a small risk on a very cheap Big 4 player, this is the one to do it on this week. Bosigwa, Cole, and Alex are all doubtful this week and with Carvalho already out, Ivanovic will surely start at either fullback or centre-back against Boro. Chelsea have looked good defensively, despite all their backline comings-and-goings, so a clean sheet could be on the cards here.
9. Stephen Ireland (Man City)
Ireland is playing really good football at the moment, and is at the heart of a lot of City’s attacking moves. WIth City scoring so many goals this season, he’s a good bet for a goal and/or assist, and remains a bargain buy.
10. Denilson (Arsenal)
WIth Fabregas playing deeper this season, Denilson has been picking up some good points here and there. A quite honestly poor Everton defence come to the Emirates and will be hoping to leave without their tails between their legs… this one could turn into a real hiding, and Denilson is in a great position to get you a good return.
As always, feel free to post comments on your suggestions for Fantasy League picks this week.
